As the new school year quickly approaches, we understand that parents and students may feel anxious or concerned about the safety measures and protocols in place at the Keystone Valley School District. I want to reassure you, safety is our top priority.
Each of our schools is supported by a dedicated Threat Assessment Team, known district-wide as the S.A.F.E. Team. These teams are trained to respond swiftly and effectively to a range of emergencies, including armed intruders, fires, severe weather, and more. They work closely and diligently with local law enforcement to secure our campuses and ensure the well-being of every student and staff member.
If In the event of an emergency occurs at one of our schools, we strongly urge parents and guardians not to rush to the school or flood the phone lines. Doing so, can interfere with emergency response efforts and compromise safety. Instead, please monitor official district communication channels or radio stations for timely updates and instructions.
To help us reach you quickly and accurately during emergencies, we ask all families to review and update their emergency contact information annually. This includes phone numbers, email addresses, and designated emergency contacts. Keeping this information current ensures we can communicate effectively when it matters most.
In the event of an emergency requiring student release, parents or guardians must present a physical ID or documentation verifying that they are authorized to pick up their child. This is essential to ensure student safety and accountability.
I wish all of you a great, safe, and healthy school year!
Yours Truly,
Dr. Steven R Farrell, Superintendent of Schools
